Joe & Jennifer Miller, E9867 County W, North Freedom, WI
Joe relocated from Dane to Sauk County to expand his meat goat grazing with more land available, he added sheep. Initially his pastures were under developed and he was over stocked, then came 2012, he reduced his livestock numbers and now the pasture density and forage productivity has improved. Joe finds that goats are easier to fence then his sheep and has dispelled some of the “hard to fence” rumors surrounding goats. We’ll be discussing fencing systems for goats and sheep and a general discussion on building soil fertility to make pastures more resilient.
